When children in care hit 18, adoption becomes onerous. These new adults have to push hard to make it official with their ‘forever’ people

We were thrilled to see the excellent article on the challenges faced by people in Ontario wishing to do an adult adoption published in the Toronto Star this past March. Beautifully researched and written by Jim Rankin, we loved that the article did a deep dive into the topic and painted a realistic picture of what the landscape currently is for adult adoption (and some ideas of what it could be!). Many people have reached out since it was published to get more information and we continue to work on creating public education tools to assist potential adoptees, potential adopters, and legal professionals in the process.
